Pues eso señores, para celebrar que hace poco escribí 2000 posts les invito a que descubran a uno de los más grandes artistas de la historia, Johnny Cash. Les voy a evitar la etapa más estrictamente country del genio de Arkansas. Les ofrezco cinco joyas de su discografía más reciente.
Les voy a ser sinceros, nunca me gustó el country, me parecía de paletos americanos rodeados de gallinas, y siempre que veía algo que olía a ese estilo cambiaba de emisora. Pero un día oí una canción que me estremeció. La había oído mil veces antes, pero nunca con esa voz desgarradora que te llegaba a las entrañas. Nunca tan pura, tan hermosa, tan triste. Lo más cercano a la palabra soledad. Nunca había oído a Johnny Cash cantando "In my life", de los Beatles.
Así que me puse a buscar. Estaba dentro de un disco que el señor este con tupé y cara de mala hostia había publicado hace poco, en su senectud, junto al productor Rick Rubin. Lo bueno es que había cuatro discos más. Lo malo es que te saben a poco.
Si no le han escuchado nunca por alguna extraña razón o por unos prejuicios tontos como los míos, denle una oportunidad de que cambie sus vidas, de que canciones oídas una y mil veces (In my life, Bridge over troubled waters, Hurt, Rusty Cage, One...) suenen nuevas y deslumbrantes gracias a la voz ronca y a la guitarra de Johnny Cash.
