Problema con disco óptico NEC ND 5100-A

Vereis, tengo un portátil con tal unidad; se supone que es una unidad que graba cd's y me lee los dvd's.
Pues bien, no se que le pasa a la mierda esta que solo me lee los cd's, ni me graba cd's ni me lee los dvd's ni nada..
No se si hay que instalarle algun driver a la unidad ni si esta escacharrada ni nada, aunque si estuviera jodida ni siquiera me andaria, no?
En fin, si alguien sabe que hacer o encuentra algo por favor que me lo haga saber, estoy harto de buscar y nada.
Ahora mismo te bajaba los pantalones y te comía la polla a dos tiempos

Me baje un archivo y ponia esto:

5100RPC1.EXE RPC1 and Rip Lock Patches

Rip Lock removes the speed locks on single and dual layer DVD-ROM discs
with a VIDEO_TS directory.

RPC1 removes region state handling commands and checks.

An RPC1 firmware defeats the internal counters within the drive and
removes region enforcement. This only is HALF of the equation. You
need to use DVD Genie or similar software to control your player

Flashing these firmwares requires some risk on your part. If you are not
comfortable with this please do not proceed. We cannot guarantee they will
work or flash correctly in any environment out of our control.

The flasher works in Windows.

Close down all your applications and CD/DVD burning software, especially
things like DirectCD, Drag to Disc and InCD.

Run the flasher with the desired firmware and patch.

Select the drive to be flashed.

Click Flash.

When the flashing completes click Quit.

Restart your system.

No se como ayudarte, pero ahí te viene diciendo que ejecutandolo que sepas que conlleva un riesgo y que no te aseguran de que funcione correctamente luego ;X

Yaya, pero... que es lo que supuestamente solucionan esos archivos ?

por lo que has puesto asi mirando por encima sin acudir a google parece que es para flashear la grabadora que tendria algun tipo de problema ripeando o leyendo dvd's. No creo que debas hacerlo tu ya que no pareces muy entendido que no es lo mismo flashear que instalar el strip poker

Bien.. y ahora suponiendo que no todos tenemos que saber por cojones lo que significa flashear. Que hago me pillo uno uno nuevo o hay alguna forma de arreglarlo dentro de mis posibilidades?
